Are you conscious of what you eat or why? Although we’re aware of what we put in our mouths, sometimes we don’t think about the purpose or meaning. Understanding nutrition and nourishment is essential. We must first understand the reasons we want to attain it. What happens if we don’t eat healthy foods and get enough nutrients? What happens if we eat junk food all day and don’t drink enough water?
Think about it… Americans today love to eat! Some people eat to live! While I do love food, I also believe in eating to live. My mindset toward food is about being healthy and energetic and looking my best. Another person may love to eat because it gives them a chance to connect with their friends and family. They don’t mind that they eat at restaurants every night of their week… they love the social connection they have with clients, coworkers and family. Do they understand the dangers of eating out every day? Understanding the reasons people eat certain foods is key to understanding nutrition.
What Do We Eat?
Yes, if you think about it, we eat to survive. Although most people eat food to survive, we eat for many reasons. The six main reasons that the average person eats food are: These reasons may not all be why you eat, but you can see which ones make sense to your situation.
1. Peak Performance Energy
Foods can play a significant role in our emotional processing and help us harness our energy for physical well-being. Healthy foods can improve your mood and inner health. Good food can improve your body’s performance, giving you the energy to do your job, take care of your family and exercise, as well as giving you the motivation you need to be successful at home. However, if you choose to eat unhealthy foods, you can reduce your energy levels, resulting in poor performance at work and home. You may also have less energy to do the things that you love. This is called making an internal deposit into our Health Bank Account. This is similar to putting high-octane gas in a race car versus putting crappy gasoline into your car before a racing race. Every day is a race. We need to function at work at a high standard. It is important to be able to work well with our children. It would be best if you were passionate about your spouse or partner. We won’t focus on the most important things in our lives if we don’t.
2. For Growth and Function
Our bodily functions must be maintained and controlled by what we eat. To ensure proper growth and function, we carefully plan the foods we eat at different stages of our lives. Parents do everything they can to encourage their children to eat in a certain way to help them grow up strong and healthy. What happens when we become adults? As adults, we must think about and maintain healthy eating habits. If not, our bodies will age and develop the disease. This can lead to a shorter and less healthy life.
3. Cleansing
Either you are cleansing your body, or you are clogging it. Either you are making an inner withdrawal or a deposit. It would help if you ate to cleanse your body, not clog it. What good is mud and dirt for your gas tank? It’s absurd. To function efficiently, our organs must be clean. Cleaning our bodies with cleansing foods will help us take care of ourselves internally and the external body like hair, nails, and skin. You will feel great and energetic! Make a conscious effort to feel refreshed and renewed each day.
4. Prevention & Fighting Disease
My Grand Master recommends this Korean wild green tea in martial arts. He says it helps fight cancer and other diseases. He eats only healthy food. The body must be a temple. Proper nutrition and food can help us build a healthy internal environment that prevents and combats disease. He said, “What you do during your twenties will affect your thirties.” What you do in your thirties will impact your forties. I don’t know if you, but I would like to live to 100 years and still be young and healthy. Healthy eating habits and a healthy lifestyle are the only way to make this happen.
5. To Maintain Our External Shell
Everything is a result of the inside. The external appearance of our bodies is affected by what we put in our bodies. Our bodies need food to function properly… but nutrition also impacts our physical appearance. A poor diet can make us look older, more tired, and overweight. Healthy foods can shine our hair and help keep our skin healthy and young.
6. For Social Situations and Enjoyment
With the holidays approaching, the last few months of the year are all about the four F’s. We celebrate holidays and other events with food and drinks. We are creating a social connection through food, friends, and fun. What does that stand for?
1. Family
2. Friends
3. Food
4. Football (lol).
The next few months will be filled with drinking, eating and celebrating Thanksgiving, Halloween and December holidays. Food allows us to have fun as individuals and brings together families and friends for social enjoyment. Food is a way to express gratitude, love, and appreciation. It can also be used for comfort, but we need to be aware of its potential negatives to prevent our eating habits from becoming a problem. We must be very careful about what we eat.
